Description

The first selection of Sosnowski's poetry available in England, spanning his entire career.

His approach to language, literature and the representation of experience is simultaneously resonant and strange, a cocktail party where lowlifes and sophisticates hobnob with French theorists and British glam rockers, unsettling the reader with the hard accuracy of their pronouncements.

Book Hero Magic summarised reviews for this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! HOW HAS THIS BEEN REVIEWED?

Reviews highlight Sosnowski's remarkable range and the exuberant playfulness of his language. E.C. Belli notes the adaptability of Sosnowski's poetry to prose, despite some differences in impact, while J. Kates praises the lively, playful nature of the poems. Grzegorz Jankowicz describes reading Sosnowski as a continuous, compelling process, with each reading inviting another.

The Iliad

When Emily Wilson's translation of The Odyssey appeared in 2017—revealing the ancient poem in a contemporary idiom that was "fresh, unpretentious and lean" (Madeline Miller, Washington Post)—critics lauded it as "a revelation" (Susan Chira, New York Times) and "a cultural landmark" (Charlotte Higgins, Guardian) that would forever change how Homer is read in English. Now Wilson has returned with an...
