Description
Facing Up is the gripping story of Bear Grylls and his extraordinary journey to the summit of Mount Everest, capturing his heartfelt excitement and emotion over what truly was the adventure of a lifetime.
At just twenty-three years old, Bear Grylls became the youngest Briton to reach the summit of Everest. This breathtaking achievement is all the more remarkable given that, at extreme altitude, youth offers no advantage over experience. In fact, younger climbers often face greater challenges when coping with the adverse effects of mountaineering.
Despite these challenges, and just two years after suffering a broken back in a freefall parachuting accident, Bear Grylls stood on top of the world's highest mountain. He triumphed over severe weather conditions, fatigue, dehydration, and a last-minute illness to achieve this incredible feat.
Facing Up is a tale of courage and humour, friendship and faith, showcasing Bear Grylls' indomitable spirit and determination in the face of adversity.
Book Hero Magic summarised reviews for this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! HOW HAS THIS BEEN REVIEWED?
Independent praises Gryllsβs heartfelt excitement and emotion. The Daily Telegraph finds his tale both hilarious and horrific. The Daily Mail notes the humble and brisk narration that captures Everestβs true power, while the Daily Express calls it a remarkable tale.
