Kerrigan is writing a guidebook to the city of Copenhagen, specifically focusing on the city's drinking establishments, of which there are over 1,500. It is a project potentially without end and one imbued with a certain amount of drunken numbness. That is precisely the point, as Kerrigan, an American expat fleeing a terrible betrayal, has plenty he wishes to forget.

The challenge with his project lies in his research associate, a voluptuous, green-eyed beauty who stirs in him a tremble of forgotten desire.

Kerrigan in Copenhagen is both a love story and a Joycean romp through a magical city.

Book Hero Magic summarised reviews for this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! HOW HAS THIS BEEN REVIEWED?

Kerrigan in Copenhagen is praised for being a multifaceted narrative blending elements of an essay, guidebook, and love story, highlighted by Kerrigan's introspective journey through themes of alcohol, history, and art. The prose is noted for its intelligent yet dichotomous style, mixing coarse language with lyrical imagery, mirroring the spontaneous, yet precise nature of jazz—a theme central to the protagonist's journey. The book captures the quest for clarity amidst chaos, driven by a protagonist seeking balance between emotional tumult and intellectual understanding.
