THE WINNER OF THE KLAUS FLUGGE PRIZE 2021

A #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

"A great story about making friends by being yourself and the illustrations are a constant visual delight" Malorie Blackman

Gustavo, the Shy Ghost tells the tale of Gustavo, a ghost who excels in all sorts of paranormal activities, such as walking through walls, making objects fly, and glowing in the dark. He also has a passion for playing beautiful music on his violin. Yet, Gustavo has a dilemma. He is shy, which makes it challenging for him to engage in simple activities like standing in line to buy eye-scream or talking to the other monsters.

Despite his shyness, Gustavo longs to be part of something and yearns to be seen. More than anything, he desires friendship. Summoning all his courage, he sends out a very special invitation: β€œDear Monsters, I would like to invite you to my violin concert at the Day of the Dead party…”

With exquisite detail and humour, Flavia Z. Drago’s vibrant illustrations bring to life a sweet and quirky story of friendship and courage.
