See morePoetry that questions of identity, belonging and history.
A powerful reminder of the ongoing conversations around identity on stolen land — questions that resonate across Australia and the world — Where Do You Live? celebrates the complex relationship between self and place. In reflecting on the deep history of Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar, Christensen's poems acknowledge ancestral stories alongside the impacts of colonisation, ecological change and cultural resilience. They invite us to consider how land, memory and history intertwine.

About the Author
Liana Joy Christensen is a third-generation Fremantle resident. She is the author of Deadly Beautiful - Vanishing Killers of the Animal Kingdom and two self-published poetry collections: Wild Familiars (which received an honourable mention in the Writers' Digest International Awards) and Unnatural History. Her poems have appeared in various literary publications internationally, nationally and locally - two are inscribed on the Busselton Jetty. Some are performance pieces that have been showcased in Amsterdam and at the Perth Poetry Festival. She was the Biodiversity Poet in Residence for the Flourish Festival, and spent seven years as the emcee for Voicebox, a monthly open-mic spoken word and poetry event. One of her landmark achievements was being the writer and Artistic Director for Wishing Well at the World's End, a multi-arts performance created for the Fremantle Festival. She has combined dance and poetry to create performance pieces such as TAP RAP CD, a ten-minute celebration of the theory of evolution. Her essays and poetry have won awards, and been shortlisted for major prizes, including the Newcastle Poetry Prize. Most recently, she has a poem in the February 2025 edition of New Scientist.
