See moreIn 1966, Jan Dibbets had not yet developed a distinct artistic oeuvre. However, three chance encounters pointed him toward his path. His first exhibitions in Amsterdam revealed an abstraction that would eventually evolve into a groundbreaking photographic practice.
Dibbets became a mediator, connecting artists, curators, and institutions across Europe and the United States. From ephemeral installations to photographic investigations of perspective, light, and time, he pushed the boundaries of perception.
Jan Dibbets 1966 β 1976 traces the decade in which chance and invention became intertwined. It depicts an artist who did not merely react to his era but shaped it, taking a familiar medium and transforming it into something fundamentally new.
