Their love story was fate. Now Arthur is going to rewrite the ending. A spellbinding novel of hope, choice and love across time, for readers of Gabrielle Zevin.

Arthur Wells is running out of time.

Arthur spends his days caring for his childhood sweetheart and now terminally ill wife, Lucy. He has promised they will retire to their dream mountain home. But when the costs of her treatment bankrupt them, that home is set to be repossessedβ€”a reality Arthur has kept a secret from his wife.

After Arthur unearths a strangely familiar device in the forest behind his home, one that grants him the ability to rewind a little less than five minutes per day, he experiences a long-absent feeling: hope.

As he resolves to do whatever it takes to keep his promise to Lucy, Arthur hatches a desperate plan.

But Arthur will learn that time does not return what it takes.

What would you do for a little extra time with the person you love? This is the question at the heart of Ben Cooke's new novel, In Spite of Time. It is a great question and Ben has written a compelling time travel story with enormous heart. It's a story that will keep you guessing right to the very end. - PIP WILLIAMS

Deeply original and profoundly moving, In Spite Of Time is a modern-day fable about loss and choice, about marriage and mortality, and so damn clever and compelling that the moment I finished I turned straight back to the start to see just how Ben Cooke had done it. Bravo! A dazzling debut. - KYLIE LADD

Compelling, heart-warming and wise. Equal parts time-travel adventure, love story, and life journey, this is such a warm and surprising book. In Spite of Time allows us to consider not just the moments we would change, but how we live our lives. A brilliant debut. - INGA SIMPSON

Delicate and introspective, tense and nail-biting - In Spite of Time is a journey about how far we'd go (in the past and the present) for the ones we love. A great match for fans of The Time Traveller's Wife and About Time. - LAURA McCLUSKEY

Beautifully written and deeply human, tender with a fine balance between quiet introspection and philosophical reflection on life, love and loss. This is a mesmerising time travel novel, filled with raw honesty about the lengths people will go for those they love, interwoven with intense and raw emotion. - JOSH HORTINELA
