Best Contemporary Monologues for Women 18-35 by Lawrence Harbison offers a curated selection of 100 exceptional monologues for women. These pieces are extracted from contemporary plays, featuring characters aged 18 to 35, and are ideal for auditions or class.
The collection includes both comic monologues, which promise laughter, and dramatic ones, which may not. Most monologues are designed with a compelling present-tense action for actors to perform, while others are story monologues—great stories that captivate.
Actors will find works by renowned playwrights such as Don Nigro, Itamar Moses, Adam Bock, and Jane Martin. Additionally, the collection features pieces by exciting emerging talents like Nicole Pandolfo, Peter Sinn Nachtrieb, Crystal Skillman, Greg Kalleres, and Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig. Furthermore, the book provides information on how to access the complete text of each play.
This resource is essential for any aspiring actor’s collection, offering the perfect contemporary piece to impress both teachers and casting directors, following a stunning performance of a classical excerpt.
