Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

All That Man Is by David Szalay was shortlisted for the 2016 Man Booker Prize and is the winner of the Edge Hill Reader's Choice Award.

Men as they really are... An ingenious book from the exceptional Granta Best Young British Novelist.

The narrative explores the lives of nine men. Each man is at a different stage of life, away from home, striving to understand what it means to be alive in the present moment. Their stories unfold in a variety of settings, from the suburbs of Prague to beside a Belgian motorway, and in a cheap Cypriot hotel.

Tracing an arc from the spring of youth to the winter of old age, All That Man Is brings these separate lives together to show us men as they are—ludicrous and inarticulate, shocking and despicable; vital, pitiable, hilarious, and full of heartfelt longing.

As the years chase them down, the stakes become bewilderingly high in this piercing portrayal of 21st-century manhood.

Book Hero Magic summarised reviews for this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! HOW HAS THIS BEEN REVIEWED?

Reviewers have lauded its bracing, thrilling, and chilling narrative, while others noted its profound impact on how they perceive the world. The book's intelligent exploration of life's meaning makes it a standout in contemporary fiction, with critics naming it as one of the best books of the year.
