See moreA vibrant journey through the soul of Latin America—explore bold colours, rich textures, and timeless traditions that bring warmth and personality into any space. Text in English and Spanish.
Interior Design in Latin America is an opulent volume of images and readings that, for the first time, focuses on Latin America's broad, deeply rooted, and at the same time highly topical understanding of design. Focusing on private residences, intercultural influences, and craftsmanship excellence, the book offers both aesthetic inspiration and cultural-historical depth.
Through a combination of photo reports, interviews, historical contextualisation, and material studies, Interior Design in Latin America is presented as an independent, multifaceted design world—from rural colonial houses to urban architect lofts. Text in English and Spanish.
Author: Ana Elena Mallet is one of Mexico's leading curators specialised in modern and contemporary Latin American design. She is especially interested in the crosses between contemporary art and design, as well as the relationship of both disciplines to popular culture. She has been curator of the Soumaya museums, the Carrillo Gil Art Museum, and the Object Object Museum and has also been assistant director of the Rufino Tamayo Museum.
She curated various exhibitions for museums in Mexico and abroad. Between 2010 and 2012, she led the curatorial direction of the Destination: Mexico project that took the work of 60 Mexican designers to New York City's Museum of Modern Art stores in New York City itself and in Tokyo.
Since 2009, she has been directing and coordinating the Cultural Corridor Roma Condesa, which has already had 14 editions. She also curated the MoMa exhibition Crafting Modernity Design in Latin America 1940 - 1980.
